Volunteer Electronics Workshop on Sunday May 1
A huge thanks to all our volunteers on the day including Mark, Paul from Elizabeth Amateur Radio Club, Jon and Pix from Hackerspace, and Leanne from Computers Reborn. Thanks also to Battery World for recycling our old batteries.
Leanne fixes computers, and showed us the insides of a computer. She can fix your iPhone in Adelaide without sending it away for a week. 3G/S glass replacement for $75, LCD replacement for $89, home button replacement for $89, and iPhone 4 glass front, LCD and digitiser replacement for $170. www.computersreborn.com.au

Tour Down Under 2011
Thanks to everyone who visited us at the Tour Down Under for "Science Outside the Square" with RI Aus and Hackerspace on Jan 23 2011. We had lots of hands-on experiments looking at the science of cycling, like gravity, friction, balance and air pressure.
Science Alive!
Did you visit us at Science Alive at the Adelaide Showgrounds in 2010? We'll be back again in the Goyder Pavillion in 2011, so hope to see you August 6 and 7.
There will be science shows, music, flying things, and hands-on experiments to try. Be amazed at Prof Rob Morrison and Dr Deane Hutton's Curious Science Show, and crawl inside inflatable Stardomes to explore the night sky during the daytime.
Do we have your photos? We're always looking for more photos of your favourite experiment, so send them to us at info@sciworld.org.au. If you have permission from mum or dad we can put them on the website for everyone to see.
Spacing out in Warooka
Thanks to everyone at Warooka who helped out with our week of Astronomy and other fun science experiments. Hope you found Jupiter high in the night sky!
We discovered lots of things about Astronomy while Lisa spent a whole week at Warooka School. If R/1 wanted to walk to the moon it would take 301 036 000 seconds, or 83 621 hours, which makes 9 and a half years. The average distance to the Moon is 376 295 km, although sometimes it is closer and sometimes further away from the Earth, so if we started right now we would be 15 or 16 when we got there. A rocket launches at around 30 000 km per hour and takes a few days to get to the Moon. 6/7 made an electronic skill tester, and 4/5 discovered some things about light and space travel.
2009 Science Alive!
Thanks for visiting us at Science Alive! at the Adelaide Showgrounds over August 7, 8 and 9. We hope you enjoyed Prof Rob Morrison and Dr Deane Hutton's SciWorld Curiosity Show. Highlights included Deane's Earthquake machine (only for the bravest volunteers) and Rob's musical instruments made from everyday items such as funnels, hoses and leg bones....
Lisa had lots of volunteers (with special thanks to Hannah's dad and Stephanie's dad) and some were brave enough to sit on the Bed of Nails. The bravest ones stretched out and took a little nap.
How are your hands? They're fine, because we spread the pressure out over lots of nails. Imagine what it would be like to sit on just 1 or 2 nails.....
We can use air for lots of things, like making music and bubbles.
We love doing science experiments and making a mess! If you'd like us to come and make a mess at your school, library, Open Day, fete, fair, party or community event we'd love to hear from you!
FREE Holiday Science at Golden Grove Village

Did you catch us in the Stardome at the Royal Adelaide Show from September 4 to 12, 2009?
SciWorld and DECS celebrated the Interntational Year of Astronomy at 2009 Adelaide Show in the Learning Centre. Kids, parents and grandparents crawled in to check out some stars.
